Our equipment reports link loss at both locations. Next update 1 hour.
I have just had unofficial confirmation of a fibre break in the roadway between these sites.
Fibre supplier confirms engineers are on route to investigate.
Fibre break located at:-
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=53.4642,-2.2378&sll=52.955108,-1.14931&sspn=0.206831,0.407181&ie=UTF8&z=16
The damage was caused by engineers carrying out a cable dig for a large telco.
Our engineers are on route to fix. Thankfully the section of duct that is damaged is quite small and in an ideal location to perform a speedy repair.
Next update 3 hours when engineers should be on site.
Engineers are expecting to splice the new cable in approx 2 hours. Next update 2 hours.
A temporary fix to the break has been implemented and all services are restored. It seems that the damage to the cable did not completely destroy it and other customers would have lost service if the cable was completely re spliced. Our service has been restored by way of a temporary splice and a maintenance window will be scheduled next week to complete the full re splice of the cable.
